Cash. Only?
|
I just had a lovely brunch with my step mom. She came to my town for a visit and we did lunch at cute little café nearby. We sat outside, they brought a bowl of water for the dog, and then the food... So. Good. They even brought us a plate of homefries on the house! When it came time to pay it was my treat and I handed over my credit card. Our server squinched her face, "Cash only." Seriously? I honestly had to take a box breath to not lash out with, "Do you know what year it is?" And by some luck I happened to have cash on me, which I never do. Cash. only. I guess for a small restaurant, this keeps things simple for them. Having cash machines with all the fees is a bunch of confusion and headaches no one needs, especially a small business. They're making a boundary, and customers can either choose to follow it or to go somewhere else. Personally, I know this isn't what you think I'm going to say but, I'm not going back. Yes, the food and service was excellent and I would recommend them for sure, but I don't do cash. I tried to think if there was anything in my own business that I have this kind of boundary on. Oh, ya! I don't use Zoom. Google Meets. only. There is a reason behind it: I need to know that clients are comfortable with Google Suite because I share their deliverables and show the editing process through Google. If they're not "Google people," I can't work with them. It's too much extra work for me, just like credit and debit must be for that café. I don't know if I have any clients that have not returned because of my hard stand on Google Meets, but it's possible. So in that way, I guess I understand the "cash only" café in some respects. The customer comes first, is always right, but except with this. With this ONE thing, WE are first and making our business simple for us. Have you ever thought about where you have a business boundary? Where do you put your own sanity and the simplicity of your business before what might be more convenient for your customer? Hit reply and let me know. But it better not be "cash only," SMH. Onward! to more sales from your sales copy, Ashe |
