AI might be improving every day, but I think "team human" isn't so shabby. Every day I receive roughly 100-150 emails and each one teaches me more about AI and the human experience I never knew I needed to know. We're all becoming AI detectors whether we want to be or not. We're all getting more sensitive, day after day, to the beige, generated emails full of em dashes—and in the wrong places (like that last one) and "whether statements". A "whether statement" is this thing I noticed that AI always does which is make this dumb taglines like this: "Whether you're an amature or a seasoned pro, this product will surely work for you." I know AI is so tempting: time-saving, summarizing, and gets the job done good enough. But if you know it's AI, your customer knows it's AI. And they're not impressed. And their trust is waning. Trust is the whole thing you're building your email list for. Trust is the only way an email list works as a sales strategy. Period. Nobody. I mean nobody wants email from AI. Don't be that person. Here are some ways to do better: ▪️Write a shorter email. ▪️Write a crappy email in your crappy, mistake-ridden, human voice. ▪️Get better and faster at writing emails in your unmistakeable brand voice (get my helpful guide here). Don't be that person. But be a person. Onward! To more sales from your sales copy. Ashe |
